Hollywood Reporter: ".the film is distinguished only by a quite extraordinary musical score." On British TV he and the presenter started gushing about it. Luke Evans has brought up the score a lot in interviews. "Danny Elfman‘s score is also another great part of the film that, much like Blunt and Christensen’s work, feels like it’s elevating the material to greater heights." ".and an eerie Hitchcock-like score from Danny Elfman (one of his best and most surprising)" "There are fine contributions on the craft side too, most notably Charlotte Bruus Christensen’s cinematography, by turns lustrous and ominous, and Danny Elfman’s atypical, impassioned score." If you're to make something so silly you might as well have some DePalma-like fun with it. The film itself is unnecessarily convoluted and joyless. Says a lot about current standards that this is getting kudos though. Elfman's "extraordinary score" (Todd McCarthy, The Hollywood Reporter), is thoroughly unremarkable. I read it at Deadline, and the actual quote was "Hitchock-like." The site is down now, but eventually this link will work.ĭear God.
